2月5日 U iz dreaming if u think this sh*t ain't rawI went to Reading Hexagon last night to see The Mighty Boosh Live. If you haven't managed to catch this genius comedy series on BBC3 or 2, then I suggest you get yourself series 1 on dvd and do not reappear til you are in love!
It was awesome, and totally did not disappoint. I have been a Barratt and Fielding fan since I saw them live in Edinburgh all those years back in my teenage comedy groupie days of 1997.
I dare you to leave not singing the songs! 1月19日 COMPLAINING PAYS!As someone who wouldn't usually say boo to a goose, I have discovered the joys of sticking up for myself and complaining. And it really works!
My car went into a garage for insurance repairs, and when I got the car back, there was a 2ft crack on my windscreen. The garage said I had no proof they did it, so they wouldn't put the work right...
Send a carefully worded complaint to ANYONE who might even vaguely need to know... CEO's, Managers, Trading Standards....
It works! My car goes back to garage for a replacement windscreen on Tuesday. I may be blacklisted, but it's worth it for justice!
Now, for my next battle... First Post of 2006!Ok, I am rubbish.
But I have been v busy with my new job - there's always something for a teacher to be doing instead of blogging!
So, what's been happening? Er... not much!
Think I'm going to give up Xmas. Too much debt, ungrateful relatives and oh my word, the farting.
9月24日 The "Christian" VoiceI'm sorry, I'm all for letting people get on with things and believe in whatever they want to believe (as long as it doesn't encroach on teh rights of others...).
However, I've come across a website for a group called Christian Voice, which is perhaps one of the most outrageous pieces of inciting religious hatred I have ever had the misfortune to read.
I was actually looking for information about the forthcoming 'Jerry Springer The Opera' tour of the UK. What I found on this site makes for hilarious reading. For example,
"This tour can only bring the judgment of Almighty God on the United Kingdom. The whole nation prayed to God in the name of Jesus Christ just sixty years ago, and God delivered us from the Nazis in answer to that prayer. George Mason, the American Founding Father, said: "As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so must they be in this." To publicly blaspheme the name of Jesus Christ is to bring shame and judgment on those towns where it happens and on the United Kingdom as a whole. However, we are almost ready to issue proceedings for blasphemy on Avalon and the BBC, so the timing of Avalon's announcement is interesting, to say the least."
Hmm, interesting that Mason believes nations should be punished in this world... Doesn't the Bible teach that "judge not, lest ye be judged" and "he who is without sin cast the first stone"? This is typical of most religious zealots, they almost always seem to twist their faith into allowing them to become judge and jury of the whole world, no matter what stands in the way.
If these people actually watched the show, I genuinely don't see what is particularly blasphemous about it! I actually thought, as a piece of theatre, it was outstanding. It has taken a genuine Bible story (Satan being cast from Heaven..) and turned it into a comment on society! I recommend it to anyone, even it's just to exercise your right to freedom of speech and stick two fingers up to those people who would want you to go to Hell for it.
8月31日 Office HumourDoh! Can't believe I didn't mention this!
Go here for the best Humour Site on the web (and not at all owned by my boyfriend.Ahem):
8月30日 Golf is the new football.... apparentlyI read somewhere that golf is Britain's fastest-growing sport.... all my friends and family seem to play and I have been in denial for so long I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm currently getting lessons from the assistant pro at Downshire Golf complex (Rhys ap Iolo). And I have to say, I can thoroughly recommend him! And no, it's not just because he's quite good looking :) After lesson three, I can say that he's doing his best but I'm having real trouble hitting the ball over 100 yards. I can't get enough power behind it, though my swing now looks good!!
I suppose this just means it'll take me three weeks to do a complete round of golf. Ah well.
